SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR) Dogs finding humans
SAR work is an especially trained dog and its handler searching and hopefully finding humans. Many SAR dog teams were used at the twin towers in NYC. They can also be used to find lost children and adults, and some work to find bodies.
Deciding to do this work is a major commitment and can take years of training to be proficient. It is not to be taken lightly and you will be responsible for paying your way and for your gear. You will be “on call” in case of a need and be willing to go immediately if needed.
However, when you and your dog find that lost child or senior, the reward is beyond words. All the training and work becomes worth it all. For more information:
