Where can I find a FT Rescue Group? Fox Terrier Rescue groups and individuals are independent. Each has a personal life and many also work full time. They give of their "free time" to help the dogs in their area that need help. When you are contacting anyone doing Rescue, please realize this. Call only during hours that are appropriate, not too early or too late. Please realize that they may not be able to call you right back and that it may take a few days. You may be one of many calls for them to make, and they only have so much time. Calls that are emergencies on dogs in shelters will always be answered first. If the Rescue group you are contacting has an Adoption Application, then go ahead and fill it out and send it in. That will make it so much easier for the Rescue worker to know what you are looking for and be prepared to answer your questions. In some areas, long distance calls are going to be returned collect. Many Rescue workers cannot afford large phone bills that can quickly occur. Always leave an e-mail address for the rescue person to contact you when you call. They have a much better chance of getting back to you quicker with e-mail. We all work as volunteers and not paid for our time. Many of us pay all the extras out of our pockets. So money is usually very tight. If a Rescue worker spends a lot of time with you, but you still don't find the right dog with them, consider sending in a donation anyway. They have given freely to you and it is a courtesy back to them. FTR workers are not Rescue workers in every part of the U.S. and Canada. FTR is working on bringing in new people all the time, but still it takes a special person to do this work. So FTW may not have someone to refer you to that is in your area. In most cases FTR does not place Fox Terriers out of the area that FTR works in. Should something not work out, the dog could be in serious trouble. FTR would have no way of meeting you and being able to pick the right dog for you. So if you do live in an area that is away from all of our Fox Terrier Rescue people, please understand that we cannot just ship you a dog. They are not a product, but a living being with a personnally and special needs of their own. We want them to have the best possible chance at a good life. FTR knows that you'll be disappointed, but it's the dogs' well-being that we are concerned about first. Please try to understand. There is a list of the Fox Terrier Rescue groups and individuals here. See below for additional listings. If you have questions that they are not able to answer, please feel free to contact us at: rescue@foxterrier.com These are all caring people that want to see that the Fox Terriers in their care find the best possible homes. All prospective adopters will be screened, so please expect to be asked many questions. It may be the opinion of the Fox Terrier Rescue worker that your home situation is not the best for a Fox Terrier. Please listen to their reasons. They have many years of experience with these breeds. They may be seeing things that you cannot. In many situations another breed would be more appropriate for you. If they suggest that, give it serious thought. We hope that one of our Fox Terrier Rescue groups or individuals will be able to help you find the right dog for you and your family. If you need the assistance of the Fox Terrier Rescue to help re- home your Fox Terrier or feel that you might be able to offer a good home to a Fox Terrier from Rescue. Please contact
