Happy Howloween!
Halloween is a fun time for the kids and it can be for your dogs. However, it can also be dangerous and scary for them. Here are some ideas for making it fun and safe for all.
- Unless you are only going to the local neighbors homes, don't take your dog. It can be too much for them.
- Never let children take the dog when trick or treating. Only if a parent is going and can handle the dog should it be included.
- Be careful if you have a costume on your dog. He may not be able to see as well and be hurt or become aggressive.
- If your dog is at all protective, especially of your children, please leave him safely locked in another part of the house. Children in costumes can be seen as a threat and a bite could happen.
- If your dog is a runner and might bolt out the door or barks constantly when the doorbell rings, lock them in a back room with the TV or radio on. Better to be safe than sorry.
- NEVER let your dog have any of the trick or treat candy. Chocolate is toxic to dogs and can kill them. Be sure your children understand this.
- Common sense and good precautions can make this a fun holiday for all!
