The Fox Terrier Network is an international club. We have a board of directors that runs the organization and encourages membership from all over the world. The majority of our members are in the United States and Canada.
FTN is many things. We are a support group for those who own and love the Wire Fox Terrier and the Smooth Fox Terrier. These active dogs can be a challenge for those people who aren’t aware of their temperament before they acquire one. FTN through our newsletter and email list can help you better understand your fox terrier. You can share funny stories and experiences with others that understand and ask questions about living with your fox terrier.
FTN has four special funds to help us help others. Our Rescue Fund provides grants to those people doing Fox Terrier Rescue to help them with medical expenses above what they can afford. Fox Terriers will come into a rescue group and need surgery or some other treatment or procedure to become adoptable. The individual Fox Terrier Rescue groups are responsible for the general medical, etc., bills for the dogs that they handle, but for some it can be life or death for the dog and the cost is too much for that rescuer. Then they can apply to our Rescue Committee for help. Over the past few years FTN through our Rescue Fund as been able to help many fox terriers that would otherwise not have been able to find new and loving homes.
The Daisy Fund helps those rescue fox terriers that have come through an animal shelter, an all breed rescue group or a Fox Terrier Rescue group, who have been placed in loving homes to live out their lives. The Daisy Fund lets the owners know know that there is help if there is a major problem. The Daisy Fund comes totally from donations from the public. We can only help with procedures and treatments that are life saving or make a major difference in the quality of life. Regular maintenance costs must be handled by the owner.
We also have the Lucy Fund that is available to FTN members only. It helps members with medical bills that members cannot afford. As with all our Funds, there are guidelines available to our members. You must be a member in good standing for over a year before being eligible for help from this Fund.
The Education Committee and Fund is another project of FTN. We work to educate the public about the Wire and Smooth Fox Terrier. We have put out a brochure about FTN that can be handed out at dog shows and pet fairs or in vet offices, pet shops, etc. We want to help the pet owner of these breeds to better understand their dogs and their needs. We also run ads in magazines to reach the public, spreading the word that FTN is here for you.
We have this website, where we have information on many aspects of owning and living with a fox terrier. We hope that you will consider it your first contact if you have a question about these breeds. It will be constantly updated and added to as new ideas and information come to us. Please visit us often.
In the spirit of the fox terrier, we believe that life is fun and to be enjoyed, and we encourage fox terrier owners to enjoy the antics of their dogs and share the joy of life with them.
